Iban Language Abuse?

This video advertisement of Maybank depicting an Iban family whose daughter leaves to study overseas in this case in London. This advert is straight forward. It actually tells the audience that Maybank is every where even in small remote town in Sarawak and the ultra modern metropolitan city like London.

Though many commend the effort to project an Iban family in the advertisement but the Iban language used is terrible more often than not doesn’t sound iban at all. From what we understand the advert was shot on location in Sarawak and took only 2 days. The actors it seems are not all Iban.

Watch and listen and you be the judge.

Tq to MBB for the good effort in promoting our Iban language. Personally I truly appreciate this advertisement I understand that all the ‘pelakon’ are Iban. As such, we hv to accept that this is the beauty in diversity of our Iban slang and our language as a whole. Please be united and be free to give words of encouragement to each other for the betterment of our community.

First thanks to MBB about the advertisement. Hope next have improvement in their advertisement to promoting the Iban Culture especially in TV. Make sure the sensitivity of our Dayak people are not neglected during making the advertisement, they must be make a final touch to view everything before its show to the public.
